Subcommittee appointed to review EMS Officer program. members are as follows: Rich Meadows, Clinton Burley, Justin Ratcliff, and Beth Hammons.

12/20/2016:

Discussions were held addressing the EMT Recertification process. Suggestions from the EMS community included mirroring the paramedic recertification including the alphabet courses in lieu of a final exam. A proposal will be given to the MPCC for input and brought back to EMSAC.

WVOEMS presented on the need for a new testing company based on the exemption from the Atlantic Council. EMSAC recommended to purchase the EMR, EMT, and Paramedic test banks from Performance Training.

The need to standardize training material was discussed and a recommendation made to approve only one EMT refresher that would be utilized by all training agencies state-wide.

The need for a 24 hour paramedic refresher was addressed. The purposed course would consist of the 24 required individual hours that in addition to the 3 required alphabet courses make up the 48 hour course. This was approved and implemented by WVOEMS.

Dr. Mike Athey has completed the EMS Officer program and a pilot program will be scheduled early 2017. The results of that pilot will be discussed at EMSAC in March.
